Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

INTEC Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join its engineering team in Mauritania. You will be responsible for delivering complete electrical designs for utility‑scale solar PV projects, from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review MV and LV electrical designs, including cable routing, sizing, voltage‑drop and short‑circuit calculations.
• Create protection coordination, grounding systems, Single Line Diagrams, electrical layouts, cable schedules and detailed construction drawings.
• Design DC systems (PV strings, combiner boxes, DC cable routing, inverter connections) and AC collection systems, transformer stations, switchgear and grid‑interconnection layouts.
• Interpret employer requirements, grid codes, technical specifications and international standards.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, SCADA, procurement and construction teams throughout the engineering phase.
• Review vendor documentation, evaluate supplier proposals and support procurement activities.
• Assist tendering and business development with technical documentation and conceptual designs.
• Respond to RFIs, technical queries and design modifications during execution, and provide support during construction, testing, commissioning and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• At least 3 years in utility‑scale solar PV EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of DC and AC systems used in large solar power plants.
