Senior Geophysicist

About the role

The Senior Geophysicist will lead and execute geophysical programs supporting exploration and development activities in Mauritania. This full‑time, on‑site position involves planning and supervising data acquisition, interpreting seismic and other geophysical datasets, and integrating results with geological and reservoir models.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and ensure quality of geophysical data acquisition and processing workflows.
• Interpret seismic and other geophysical datasets and provide technical recommendations for well locations and field development.
• Collaborate with geology, drilling, and reservoir teams, preparing technical reports and presentations.
• Contribute to project planning, risk assessment, and decision‑making processes.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Geophysics, Geological Sciences, or a related field.
• Substantial experience in oil and gas exploration and production.
• Proven track record leading projects and mentoring junior professionals.
• Willingness to live on‑site in Mauritania and travel to field locations as needed.

Required skills

• Seismic survey design and interpretation.
• Geophysical data processing using modern workflows and software tools.
• Data acquisition planning, QC oversight, and coordination with field crews and service providers.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard geophysical and seismic interpretation software.
