Remote Medical Coder (US/UK)

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, assigning appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4 or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal, state, NHS or payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding discrepancies.
• Correct coding errors, address claim denials, and support revenue cycle optimization.
• Maintain data integrity, participate in audits, and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active AAPC or AHIMA certification (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or recognized UK equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet and a UPS or generator backup.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS (US) or ICD‑10, OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT (UK).
• Experience using EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web or SystmOne.
