Accountant – International Energy Projects

About the role

INTEC Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its international finance team in Nouakchott. You will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day accounting operations and supporting financial reporting for a portfolio of EPC and energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ledger entries, reconciliations and controls in line with company policies and international accounting standards.
• Execute and coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
• Prepare internal financial reports for local management and headquarters.
• Monitor project‑related costs, expenses and financial movements with project and site teams.
• Support payment processing, cash‑flow tracking and bank reconciliations.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants and local authorities as required.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes.
• Assist with ad‑hoc financial analyses and reporting for regional or global finance teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 + years of experience in accounting, preferably within EPC, construction, energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, trial‑balance control and month‑end / year‑end closing.
• Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with cost accounting in project‑based environments.
• Experience supporting tax filings, statutory declarations and regulatory reporting.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) is an asset.
