Banquet Supervisor

About the role

The Banquet Supervisor ensures smooth operation of banquet events, leading staff to deliver high‑quality service that meets guest expectations. This full‑time position is based at Marriott International in Nouakchott and involves hands‑on coordination of setup, service, and post‑event activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead banquet staff, fostering teamwork and addressing any performance issues.
• Inspect staff grooming, attire, and overall presentation, correcting deficiencies promptly.
• Communicate with guests, other departments, and employees to fulfill special event arrangements.
• Set up banquet rooms, ensuring cleanliness, proper furniture placement, and equipment readiness.
• Maintain table settings according to group requirements and company standards.
• Document relevant information in departmental logbooks.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching employees.
• Follow all safety, security, and company policies, reporting incidents as needed.
• Welcome guests, anticipate service needs, and provide courteous assistance, including for individuals with disabilities.
• Answer telephone calls using professional etiquette and uphold quality standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of related food‑and‑beverage or banquet experience.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb unaided and up to 75 lb with assistance.
• Capability to read and verify information in various formats, including small print.
• Strong communication skills and professional appearance.
