Deputy Representative Operations (P-4) – Fixed Term, 24 months

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Deputy Representative Operations at P‑4 level for a 24‑month fixed‑term appointment in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The incumbent will support the Head of Office in overseeing the efficient use of UNICEF assets, ensuring sound management practices and contributing to the delivery of programmes that improve children’s lives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Office in managing overall office operations, including finance, procurement, logistics and human resources.
• Monitor and report on the implementation of the country programme budget and resource allocations.
• Provide strategic advice on operational risk management, compliance and innovative solutions.
• Coordinate with programme teams to align operational support with humanitarian and development priorities.
• Oversee the administration of contracts, grants and partnerships with government and UN agencies.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, development studies, business management).
• Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in operations, finance or logistics within an international organization or similar context.
• Demonstrated experience working in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments, preferably in fragile or humanitarian settings.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
