Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

INTEC Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join its Mauritania engineering team. You will be responsible for delivering complete electrical designs for utility‑scale solar PV projects, from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with international standards and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review MV and LV electrical designs, including cable routing, sizing, voltage‑drop and short‑circuit calculations.
• Create Single Line Diagrams, electrical layouts, cable schedules, trench layouts, termination and detailed construction drawings.
• Design DC systems (PV strings, combiner boxes, DC cable routing, inverter connections) and AC collection systems, transformer stations, switchgear and grid‑interconnection schemes.
• Interpret employer and grid‑code requirements, technical specifications and applicable standards.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, SCADA, procurement and construction teams throughout the engineering phase.
• Review vendor documentation, perform technical evaluations of supplier proposals and support procurement activities.
• Respond to RFIs, technical queries and design modifications during construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Ensure all engineering work complies with IEC standards, local regulations and company procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience on utility‑scale solar PV EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of DC and AC systems used in large solar power plants.
• Proven experience designing MV collection systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, grounding and protection systems.
