General Manager – Hotel

About the role

The General Manager leads Sheraton Nouakchott Hotel, overseeing all aspects of operations, strategy and guest experience. Reporting to regional leadership and collaborating with owners, the GM ensures the property remains the premier hospitality destination in Mauritania’s capital.

Key responsibilities

• Set and execute the hotel’s strategic plan to drive revenue, profitability and market share.
• Lead all departments—including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing—ensuring seamless service delivery.
• Maintain Marriott International brand standards and compliance with local regulations.
• Foster a high‑performing team culture through coaching, talent development and associate engagement.
• Build strong relationships with government officials, corporate clients, and local business leaders.
• Oversee financial performance, budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Drive guest satisfaction initiatives and manage the property’s reputation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a General Manager or senior executive in a branded full‑service hotel.
• Proven track record in multi‑departmental leadership, financial results and guest satisfaction.
• Experience with Marriott International or another global hospitality brand is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to operate in emerging markets, particularly Africa or the Middle East.
• Strong commercial acumen, resilience and a passion for people‑focused service.

Required skills

• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• Fluent French (written and spoken).
• Arabic proficiency – strong advantage.
