Environmental Lead (Engineer)

About the role

The Environmental Lead (Engineer) provides technical expertise for the environmental management of Tasiast mining facilities. The role supports waste, tailings, dump leach, waste rock, and processing operations while ensuring compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input to operational teams on environmental aspects of their activities.
• Develop, maintain, and manage an integrated environmental data management system for monitoring data.
• Process field data into reportable formats and analyse trends, exceedances, and management decisions.
• Conduct routine inspections of tailings, waste rock, dump leach, and processing facilities.
• Collect and analyse environmental data, evaluate tailings performance against KPIs, and update the stormwater management plan.
• Lead compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code and conduct waste audits.
• Establish scopes of work for external consultants and oversee project execution.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse, and solve environmental problems.
• Experience with design, construction, and maintenance of civil projects in a mining context.
• Knowledge of Mauritanian environmental legislation and relevant government agencies.
• Strong understanding of waste management, tailings, and cyanide handling standards.
