Civil Design Engineer

About the role

INTEC Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to support the engineering and execution of large‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Mauritania. You will work within a multidisciplinary EPC team to deliver high‑quality civil and structural designs for utility‑scale solar plants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop civil and structural designs for utility‑scale solar PV projects, including reinforced concrete foundations, driven piles, screw piles and other foundation systems.
• Perform structural analysis and design calculations in line with international codes and project specifications.
• Interpret geotechnical reports, topographical surveys and site investigation data to inform design decisions.
• Design site grading, earthworks, access roads, drainage systems, culverts, retaining structures and erosion‑control measures.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, design reports, technical specifications, Bills of Quantity (BOQ) and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Review EPC contractor and subcontractor civil/structural designs for compliance with standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate external engineering consultants and structural design firms throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support technical due diligence, feasibility studies, tender engineering and value‑engineering activities.
• Respond to RFIs, technical queries and design change requests during construction and conduct site inspections to verify compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of professional civil/structural engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience on utility‑scale solar PV EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel structures, foundation engineering and soil mechanics.
• Proven ability to review geotechnical reports and design foundations for varied soil conditions.
• Experience with site grading, drainage, road design, earthworks and storm‑water management.
