Deputy Representative Operations

About the role

The Deputy Representative Operations serves as a strategic Business Partner within UNICEF Mauritania’s Senior Management Team. Reporting to the Head of Office, the role ensures optimal use of UNICEF assets and supports the delivery of results for children across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Office in managing day‑to‑day office operations and monitoring programme performance.
• Provide expert advice on innovative management practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Oversee resource allocation, procurement, and financial management in line with UNICEF policies.
• Coordinate humanitarian response activities, including support for refugee populations.
• Ensure compliance with UN and UNICEF operational standards and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Senior professional with proven experience in operations management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong knowledge of UN/UNICEF policies, procedures, and financial rules.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and support multi‑disciplinary teams in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English; French is an asset.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing situations.
