Director of Engineering – Facilities Management

About the role

The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the building, grounds, and physical plant. This senior position ensures safety, security, asset protection, and energy efficiency while delivering high‑quality services to guests and employees.

Key responsibilities

• Manage engineering operations, budgets, and capital‑expenditure projects.
• Oversee all plant systems including HVAC‑R, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical.
• Administer service contracts and ensure fire‑crew procedures and alarms are fully understood.
• Develop and implement an engineering operating strategy aligned with the property’s business goals.
• Lead preventative‑maintenance programs and a 10‑year asset‑protection plan.
• Review financial reports, control expenses, and propose proactive solutions to ownership.
• Supervise construction projects to ensure timely, on‑budget completion.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain safety standards.
• Lead the emergency response team for all facility‑related incidents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 6 years of engineering/maintenance experience and technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, and plumbing, or a 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, etc., with 4 years of relevant experience and the same technical training.
